This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to plan and organise special events and to manage and supervise such activities. You will learn skills in coaching and managing staff, marketing, developing event proposals, bids and programs, developing sponsorship programs, managing projects, finance and budgeting, implementing and monitoring business systems and providing on site management of events. You will also learn about the legal requirements for work in this area.

With event management skills in the tourism and travel, hospitality, sport and cultural and community sectors in ever-increasing demand, you can up-skill yourself ready to take on the challenge of event management for companies, event venues or causes that organise major events. The events industry requires flexibility, creativity, and excellent organisational skills. As a graduate of this program, you will be equipped to organise all the of an event, whether it's based at a local or international location.

You will develop your knowledge of the events industry and acquire a range of management, marketing, budgetary and event specific skills including the selection of appropriate venues, development of event concepts, risk management, operational planning and event specific project management.

You will be able to apply these skills to real events. You’ll be given the skills to effectively manage tasks and oversee event operations, both before and after the event.

Your qualification prepares you for roles such as:

Successful completion of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to become a food and beverage manager, area manager or operations manager, rooms division manager, executive housekeeper, secretary manager, executive chef, cafe owner or manager, motel owner or manager.

Further study opportunities:

Advanced Diploma of Events, Advanced Diploma or Degree programs in business management, creative industries, events, hospitality, sport, tourism or travel.
