This course is low fee* for residents of Western Australia and temporary residents holding certain visa types. An annual fee cap of $400 for those aged 15-24 or concession holders or $1,200 for everyone else, applies to this course. Some eligibility conditions apply for the low fee training and other fees may apply for some courses. Please refer to the FAQs for more information.

With elective options such as Asian cookery and customer service, students can shape their training to suit their interests and career goals. This course also provides a pathway to apprenticeships, further study, and future advancement in hospitality.

You will learn to:

  • Prepare a variety of dishes to commercial standards, including cakes, appetisers, and salads.
  • Use a range of food preparation equipment effectively.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and safety in food handling.
  • Manage stock control and perishable goods efficiently.
  • Communicate clearly with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Work as part of a commercial kitchen team and prioritise kitchen safety.
