This Qualification equips students with the necessary skills to succeed as entry-level operators in open-cut mines or quarries. 

Students will learn how to operate essential machinery like skid steers and four-wheel drives, assess worksite hazards, and plan for safe, efficient operations. This course also covers effective team communication and ensures students are well-prepared to meet industry standards. With a focus on practical experience, this Qualification provides a strong foundation for those entering the resource sector.

 

Throughout this course, you will gain skills in: 

  • Planning work, breaking rock, sorting and categorising  
  • Operating and maintaining a 4WD and skid steer loader 
  • Basic levelling 
  • Hazard identification and risk control 
  • General health and safety on a worksite 
  • Workplace communication 
  • Sustainable work practices 
  • You are a school leaver or young adult with limited practical work experience
