This course prepares students to offer person-centered support to people who may require assistance due to ageing, disability, or other reasons.

This Qualification is ideal for those looking to embark on a caregiving career, offering comprehensive training and real-world experience in supporting aged and disabled individuals. It opens a range of career opportunities in a growing sector and provides a foundation for further professional development.
 
Students will train in our modern, well-equipped NDIS facilities located at our major campuses.
  • Supporting clients with activities that can include any or all of the following:
  • Providing transport, attending appointments; going on social outings; assisting with household tasks like meal planning and cleaning, personal care supports such as hygiene and dressing, advocating for your client when required, coordinating and implementing individual support plans in accordance with Industry standards and workplace policy and procedures.
  • Working effectively in the aged care and/or disability industry
  • Caring for the elderly/people with a disability, supporting and enabling them to maintain their independence and wellbeing Use person centred and strengths based approaches
  • Learn how to implement effective communication strategies and work with a diverse range of groups of varying cultures and backgrounds
  • Understanding healthy bodies and supporting people to maintain health and wellbeing while managing conditions such as dementia and skin integrity
  • Managing manual handling tasks
  • Safety procedures, infection control practices and ethical behaviour 
  • Workplace health and safety
  • You have a passion for empowering other people to achieve their own goals.
  • You are a compassionate and empathetic person with a caring nature.
  • You can work independently and have a motivating attitude.
  • Have lived experience or simply willing to learn how to support people with a disability or the elderly.
  • Have the physical capability to undertake manual handling tasks to support clients. E.g. pushing a wheelchair, or assisting to safely transfer a client.
  • Are able to take responsibility for your own work within the scope of the job role and delegation.
  • You must complete at least 120 hours of work placements to successfully complete (support is provided to find a suitable organisation)
