Are you ready for a career where you can help others keep and active and healthy lifestyle? 

The Certificate III in Sport and Recreation offer the multi-skills for you to provide operational and customer support in fitness centres, sporting grounds or aquatic centres, as well as how best to provide support for sport and recreational programs. In this course you will learn a range of skills from planning and conducting schedules and programs, customer service, first aid and emergency response, and learning digital tools for promotion and engagement.

You are required to undertake an individual pre-enrolment interview to ensure that the program is likely to meet your needs. The pre-enrolment meeting is also designed to:   

  • ascertain your existing knowledge, skills and level of experience applicable to this qualification  
  • determine the amount of training, including additional training support you will require 
  • ascertain any other support services that will be required. 
  • Information from this pre-enrolment interview will be recorded on the pre-enrolment interview form. 

You will also have an individual student study plan to schedule training and assessments and ensure you have your choice in elective units. 

For all learners the program will incorporate a work placement of a minimum of 150 hours.

This will strengthen your experience and provide an opportunity to learn and apply skills and knowledge across a range of programs and services. Training and assessment will occur in the workplace, a workplace logbook is provided to you and your supervisor which identifies the training, monitoring and assessment roles and responsibilities of both parties.

Upon completion of this qualification, you can progress to SIS40115 Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation to upskill in areas such as:

  • conducting sport, fitness and recreation events, 
  • develop and review budgets for activities and projects
  • recruit, select and induct new staff
  • analyse participation patterns
