Have you always dreamed of exploring the world, meeting new people and learning new cultures... all while getting paid? This qualification prepares you for a career as a tour guide on a range of topics and industries and is suitable for history buffs through to adventure thrill seekers. 

Throughout this course, you will learn how to source and use information on the tourism industry, provide a high level of service to customers, display social and cultural sensitivity and participate in safe work practices. You will also have the opportunity to specialise in your tourism stream of choice: visitor services, tour guiding or hospitality.

Throughout this course, you will gain skills in: 

  • Sourcing and using information on the tourism and travel industry  
  • Interacting with customers  
  • Showing social and cultural sensitivity  
  • Participating in safe work practices

You will also gain specific skills in your tourism stream of choice: visitor services, tour guiding or hospitality.

  • You are working in the tourism industry and wish to elevate your skills and knowledge 
  • You are passionate about tourism 
  • You are a tour operator, work in a visitor information centre or on cultural and heritage sites 
  • You are a small tourism business owner 
Free in 2023

This course will be FREE from 1 January 2023. The course fees are 100 per cent subsidised by the WA State Government.

An updated version of this qualification is being introduced in 2023. As we are committed to providing you with industry ready qualifications, new students will be enrolled into the latest version.

This qualification prepares you for roles such as: 

  • Tourism guide in a range of subindustries including adventure tourism, marine, cultural, historical, interpretive 
  • Visitor information officer 
  • Museum attendant 
  • Customer services agent 
  • Operations consultant
