This course is aimed at the development of personal, social and employability skills that can be tailored to include a wide range of industries. It is designed to assist learners to articulate into vocational pathways and to develop the skills and abilities to direct their own development. The course will involve a range of guest speakers and lecturers; covering an array of activities and may be contextualised and customised to suit different learner target groups and focus areas, including:

  • Broadening awareness of educational and career options available

The North West cattle industry provides a vast area of employment for young stockmen and women from all over WA.

The Certificate II in Rural Operations is an entry-level course suitable for students who wish to try their hand in the cattle industry. Students will undertake a combination of written assignments and hands-on industry tasks including fencing, tractor operations, cattle processing and mustering in teams.

Students will gain skills in machine operation and maintenance and horse husbandry. This qualification can lead participants on an exciting path from stockman, to head stockman and eventually, station manager.

Connecting with Country program - Broome

The Connecting with Country program is a unique opportunity for students to develop knowledge and skills in horticulture and land management relevant to the local region, while undertaking a Certificate II in Rural Operations. The program runs for three days per week and provides practical skills and experience in:

  • Propagating seedlings, striking cuttings, potting up and caring for nursery plants
  • Preparing and establishing an organic vegetable patch
  • Installing and maintaining irrigation
  • Operating machinery and equipment
  • Recognising plants
  • Growing bush foods

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment provides participants with the opportunity to work as a lecturer, trainer or mentor in their area of specialty. Our blocks of delivery cover three areas:

  • Designing learning programs to deliver qualifications and/or units of competency
  • Delivering training to groups and individuals, supporting facilitation of learning, transfer of knowledge and learning needs
  • Assessment processes and tool design, validation of assessment tools, and conducting assessment.

Our delivery model supports participants to achieve the qualification while managing work and home commitments. Once qualified, participants will be able to confidently design, contextualise and facilitate training to suit organisational needs, while meeting industry and quality standards.

The TAE40116 is the current version and replaces the previous qualification coded TAE40110. We offer gap training if you already hold the TAE40110 but need to complete two additional units to meet 2015 Quality Standards for RTOs. Alternatively to update your qualification from TAE40110 to TAE40116 we offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and/or training to achieve the four additional units.
