Ensure the health and safety of your colleagues in the workplace.

The Diploma of Work Health and Safety is suitable for people who coordinate and maintain an Work Health and Safety (WHS) program in an organisation. It reflects the role of practitioners who apply a substantial knowledge base and well-developed skills in a wide variety of WHS contexts.

This qualification is delivered in an online environment only. Two streams are available to study through and both are online.

  • Stream 1: General competency based training
  • Stream 2: WorkSafe WA Safety Line Institute program

Participants who undertake this course will gain skills in:

  • Effective management of WHS consultation and participation processes
  • Systematic management of WHS risks
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining a WHS management systems
  • Managing rehabilitation and return to work programs
  • Managing and monitoring workplace emergency procedures and equipment

This course is available at other campus locations upon request.

Half-price

This course is part of the Lower fees, local skills initiative, allowing you to pay just half of the standard course fees for training in 2021.

The following people will be eligible for the $400 annual course fees cap under Lower fees, local skills.

  • Persons aged 15—24 years at the time of enrolment (excluding students enrolled at school)
  • Persons and dependents of persons receiving JobKeeper payment
  • Persons and dependents of persons in receipt of services from one of the following Commonwealth support or employment services programs:
    • Jobactive
    • Online Employment Services
    • ParentsNext
  • Persons and dependents of persons receiving the Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY
  • Persons and dependents of persons holding:
    • a pensioner concession card or  Health Care Card; or
    • Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans' Affairs
  • Dependents of persons who are inmates of a custodial institution

^ You will pay half price for the course fees on the Lower fees, local skills courses, however other fees may apply such as for resources that are specifically needed for your training.

These fees are estimates only and are for the entire course for students enrolling on a full-time basis.

  • Fees might differ between courses delivered at different campuses due to the elective units included in the course study plan or adapting courses to meet local industry needs.
  • Fees may also differ for each individual student depending on the units of study selected, prior qualifications and recognition of prior learning.
  • Fees are payable at enrolment each semester for the units enrolled for that period.
  • Proof of concession must be presented to access concession rates if eligible.
  • For secondary school aged persons (in 2021, students born on or after 1 July 2003 who are at least 15 years old) undertaking training that is not part of a VET Delivered to Secondary Schools program, the maximum course fee chargeable in 2021 is $420 plus the resource fees and discretionary fees.
  • Prices quoted include resource fees, but do not include material fees such as the cost of books, uniforms and students personal equipment.
  • VET Student Loans Eligible Courses and Caps may be subject to changes implemented by the Australian Government.
  • Concessions and Secondary School Age cap do not apply to commercial courses, or Foundation Programs (ESL, General Education).
