Horticulture and Conservation

Conservation and land management is about the future as much as it is about the present. Develop skills in the fields of natural resource management, land management, minesite rehabilitation, developing and leading teams to implement conservation and land management strategies and more.

Your health and safety is important to us.

Spaces are limited to adhere to social distancing guidelines. Additional hygiene protocols will be implemented and other controls may apply. Students must follow the directions of the lecturer to ensure the health and safety of all students and teaching staff.

 

Join our expert horticulture lecturers for a series of outdoor night classes where you will explore how to prepare and nurture your very own veggie garden!

This skill set will focus on the development of a dry season fruit and vegetable garden and include tree pruning and cultivation of local bush foods, including gubinge. You you also learn about site preparation, soil improvement, raising seedlings and irrigation installation.

Literary and practical support will be available.

The Certificate II in Horticulture is an entry-level qualification, allowing participants to gain an insight into the horticulture industry.

Participants will develop basic skills and knowledge in caring for nursery plants and food gardens, treating weeds and using horticulture equipment.

This course leads into employment opportunities as a parks assistant, gardener, nursery worker or can be used as a pathway into higher level horticulture qualifications.
