The Certificate II in Civil Construction is an entry-level course, giving participants a taste of the civil construction and mining industry. 

Participants will learn how to:

  • Carry out measurements and calculations
  • Read and interpret plans
  • Undertake manual excavation
  • Use hand and power tools
  • Operate small plant equipment
  • Meet OH&S requirements

Successful completion of this course will enable participants to enter the workforce with skills acquired to work safely to industry standards.

Gain the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a boom-type Elevating Work Platform (EWP), where the length of the boom is 11 metres or more.

Participants will be guided through the process, from identifying the work order, to safely preparing for the task to be carried out, performing the duties, and finally packing up, ensuring all post-operational checks are completed.

This nationally-recognised course is accredited by WorkSafe WA. On completion, participants will receive a statement of attainment and a WorkSafe WA permit.

Learn how to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.

Participants will be guided through the operation of a forklift, ensuring:

  • Risk control measures are implemented
  • Traffic management is carried out in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Pre-start and operational checks are completed
  • Loads are monitored correctly
  • Shutdown procedures are carried out

Upon completion, participants will receive a forklift Notice of Assessment and a Work Safe High Risk Work Licence.

Please note:

  • Participants must be aged 18 years or over, and provide two primary forms of identification, along with two passport photos.
  • Participants are required to wear a high visibility shirt and steel cap boots during the course.
