Make what you love what you do! Sport development gives you the practical skills and knowledge to develop, coordinate, coach and officiate in a range of sports. If you are interested in pursuing a career as a professional athlete, you can join the athlete development program and concentrate on training in your specialist sport.

The Certificate II in Sport and Recreation is an entry-level qualification, providing participants with a taster of the sport and community recreation industry.

The Certificate III in Sport and Recreation provides participants with a wide range of basic skills, ranging from first aid to conducting exciting outdoor recreation sessions. Throughout this qualification, participants will gain the skills to provide administrative or customer service assistance in fitness centres, sporting grounds or aquatic centres, as well as how best to provide support for sport and recreational programs.

Start kicking goals with a qualification in sport and recreation.

The Certificate IV in Sport and Recreation enables participants to work in the sport and recreation industry in an administrative or organisational capacity. These individuals are able to plan, conduct and evaluate activities of others, deal with unpredictable and non-routine situations and provide leadership and guidance to staff.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Conduct sport, fitness and recreation events
  • Address client needs
  • Develop and review budgets for activities and projects
  • Analyse participation patterns
  • Coordinate work teams and groups
  • Recruit, select and induct new staff
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Provide first aid

This qualification provides a pathway to work in a diverse range of sport and recreation locations such as fitness centres, sporting grounds or complexs, leisure and aquatic centres and community recreation centres or sporting organisations and associations.
