NR TAFE is committed to providing access to education and training across the North West.

A range of scholarships are available to assist current and prospective students with the cost of fees and study related expenses. Current scholarship opportunities are listed below.

Industry Scholarship Program

NR TAFE's Industry Scholarship Program provides opportunities for Kimberley and Pilbara residents to progress their career aspirations in a range of eligible industry areas. The Industry Scholarship Program has been designed to create opportunities for a better future through education and training, and are open to prospective students who can demonstrate educational disadvantage and financial hardship. Prospective students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Industry Scholarship Program has four scholarship streams outlined below.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment Scholarship

The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment scholarship provides participants with the opportunity to undertake a qualification which enables employment as a lecturer, trainer or mentor in the applicant's area of expertise. This qualification provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to facilitate learning and maintain and enhance professional practice through competency-based assessment in a range of settings.

Participants who undertake this qualification will learn how to design and develop learning programs and resources to support delivery. Participants will also learn how to plan and organise assessment, design and develop assessment tools and assess competency in a vocational, training and education environment. Scholarship value: $1,450.00*

Aspire Scholarship

The Aspire Scholarship is open to prospective students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent and provides an opportunity for career progression in the applicant's chosen field. Applicants must select and apply for their chosen course of study from Certificate I to Diploma level in any NR TAFE qualification. View the full list here.

Please note: In support of the West Pilbara Plan, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people residing in the surrounding communities of the City of Karratha are strongly encouraged to apply.

Scholarship value: $1,000 - $10,100* depending on selected course aspiration

Diploma of Nursing Scholarship

The Diploma of Nursing Scholarship assists students with the costs associated with tuition fees and practical placements during their 18 month course. The Diploma of Nursing provides students with the practical skills and knowledge to work as an enrolled nurse and upon successful completion, participants will have the skills to assist in the provision of preventative, curative and rehabilitative nursing. Please note the Diploma of Nursing has specific intake takes. Learn more about the Diploma of Nursing here.

Entrance requirements

  • Please note: only current nursing students or enrolling students that have received an offer to enrol in this course can apply for this scholarship.
  • Diploma of Nursing students will need to complete a mandatory 440 hours of clinical placement, and attendance at two one-week blocks at Pundulmurra campus in South Hedland each semester. Clinical placements are required to be undertaken in Hedland/Karratha and in Perth, as part of the course.

Priority Industry Qualification Scholarship

The WA State Government Priority Industry Qualification List identifies training courses related to skilled occupations that are in high demand across WA. Applicants can select and apply for their preferred course of study from the below list of qualifications available at NR TAFE.

Scholarship value: $1,000 - $10,100* depending on priority industry qualification.
