North Regional TAFE is pleased to announce that Joel Pearson won this year's WA School-based Apprentice of the Year award at the 2020 WA Training Awards.
NR TAFE was also represented by two other outstanding students as finalists in this years awards.
NR TAFE students Chantelle Un, Philemon Pearson and Joel Pearson joined 13 other finalists at the Training Awards night on Tuesday 6 October.
Meet the three finalists who represented NR TAFE in this year's award:
Joel Pearson - WINNER of WA School-based Apprentice of the Year 2020
Joel Pearson is the third finalist representing NR TAFE for WA School-based Apprentice of the Year. Studying remotely with NR TAFE has allowed Joel to further pursue his passion for the arts in completing a Certificate III in Arts Administration. This opportunity has led to him to being selected to complete a Tour Coordinator Mentorship with regional arts industry leader, CircuitWest and being able to continue to chase his passions in the circus and entertainment industry.
NR TAFE is extremely proud to see three great students being represented in this year’s WA Training Awards as finalists for their studying efforts.
Chantelle Un
Chantelle Un is a finalist for the WA Vocational Student of the Year. Studying a Certificate III in Community Services at Kununurra campus, Chantelle’s journey hasn’t always been easy as she overcame barriers to studying but it is wonderful to see her efforts recognised as a finalist in this year’s awards.
Philemon Pearson
Studying a Certificate II in Engineering at Pundulmurra (South Hedland) campus, Philemon Pearson is a finalist for the WA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year. Philemon is from Poruma (Coconut) Island in the Torres Strait and moved to Australia with his partner and children with the goal of securing a trade. Despite a few hurdles, nine years later, Philemon is undertaking his Certificate II and a traineeship with BHP.
