NR TAFE crowned WA Large Training Provider of the Year

North Regional TAFE’s focus on the student experience has earned the College the title of 2019 WA Large Training Provider of the Year.

The announcement was made at the WA Training Awards in Perth on Friday evening, where the State’s top achieving students, lecturers and training providers were recognised and awarded.

The win follows several other recent achievements for the College, including finishing top of the State for overall student satisfaction in the annual Student Satisfaction Survey and recording a significant improvement in its Occupational Safety and Health Management System through a recent Worksafe Plan Assessment audit.

NR TAFE Managing Director Kevin Doig attributed the win to the College’s renewed focus on the student experience, which he said had been collectively adopted by staff.

“It started 18 months ago when strategically we took a focus on the student experience and we made that the centre of our planning. By improving our facilities and focusing our systems on student engagement, we have seen very pleasing results,” Kevin said.

“The dedication of staff members at every part of the organisation to the task at hand has been outstanding. At the end of the day that dedication is truly what wins awards.”

The WA Training Awards judging panel commended NR TAFE for being in tune with the diverse community in which it serves.

“NR TAFE goes above and beyond what is required to enable and encourage students to engage in the VET sector, in particular Aboriginal students,” the judging panel said.

Shortlisting is currently taking place for the Australian Training Awards, which will be held in Brisbane on 21 November.
