2022 National Reconciliation Week

Estimated reading time: 1 minute

This year’s theme is “Be Brave. Make Change.” We encourage you to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians.

At North Regional TAFE we are committed every day to embedding reconciliation into our practices and daily lives to make it an equitable and proud place for all Australians to study and work. This week we will be taking the time to learn and understand shared histories, culture, and achievements and we invite you to do the same.

As part of our 2022 National Reconciliation Week efforts, we engaged the services of Eastern Guruma man, Wayne Stevens to hand craft two unique boomerangs. The two boomerangs will make their journey to each of our campuses over the coming weeks and months, spreading the message of reconciliation.

The white boomerang is made out of "Kartampa Tree' or Cork Bark. The black boomerang is made out of "Pukarti Tree" or Snakewood.

"When the boomerangs are together the wind will be calm, the animals and rivers will listen to the sound of the boomerangs. Echoing our message of reconciliation."
