As we approach International Day of People with Disability(opens in a new tab) on December 3, we’re celebrating the achievements and strengths of our students and staff who work together to create an inclusive community.
Sara, a dedicated student, shows determination every day. She is an active learner, always helping others and growing in confidence as she learns. Sara is also building practical skills by working at the school canteen, where she gains hands-on experience and connects with her peers. Her commitment to learning and to helping others reflects her strong character, and her positive attitude will help her succeed in her studies and in her future.
For Bec, who works in North Regional TAFE’s Disability Student Support, supporting students has been an incredibly rewarding and inspiring experience. “It’s not just about helping students navigate their learning journey— it’s about learning from them,” Bec shares. “Their determination, resilience, and sense of humor are constant sources of inspiration.”
Bec highlights the power of small gestures like a word of encouragement or a moment of reassurance which can help students overcome self-doubt. “Watching them grow in confidence as they achieve their goals is heart-warming. It reminds me of the importance of pushing past our own comfort zones, because when we do, extraordinary things can happen.”
For anyone who may need extra support in the classroom, North Regional TAFE is here to help! Our AccessAbility and Inclusion services provide support to empower every student to succeed in their studies and reach their goals.
