Learn how to weld using Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) processes to industry standard.

GMAW is a popular welding process for the vehicle body building industry, and is suited to a wide range of light and heavy applications, from one-tonne tray bodies and tradesman vans, to semi-tippers and road trains. 

This course covers:

  • Identifying welding requirements
  • Preparing materials for welding
  • Preparing equipment for welding
  • Performing routine welding using GMAW

Please note: Participants are required to wear boots, a long sleeved cotton shirt and trousers.

Join us each fortnight on a Tuesday, starting on 17 September. Classes run from 5.00pm - 8.00pm.

Learn how to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.

Participants will be guided through the operation of a forklift, ensuring:

  • Risk control measures are implemented
  • Traffic management is carried out in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Pre-start and operational checks are completed
  • Loads are monitored correctly
  • Shutdown procedures are carried out

Upon completion, participants will receive a forklift Notice of Assessment and a Work Safe High Risk Work Licence.

Please note:

  • Participants must be aged 18 years or over, and provide two primary forms of identification, along with two passport photos.
  • Participants are required to wear a high visibility shirt and steel cap boots during the course.

Asbestos is a hazardous material and its removal must be carried out by trained and experienced licensed operators.

Participants who complete this course will be able to supervise, manage and carry out asbestos work involving non-friable (bonded) asbestos-containing material. 

Occupational Safety and Health Regulations require operators to have a Restricted Asbestos Licence if removing more than 10 square metres of bonded asbestos in a workplace. The licence will be valid for three years. Upon course completion, those applying for a Restricted Asbestos Licence will be required to submit a written application to WorkSafe. 

Applicants will be required to pay a fee and provide evidence of the ability to remove asbestos in a safe and proper manner, which can be demonstrated through the completion of this course.

The testing and tagging of electrical equipment must be performed by trained individuals. 

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to test and tag electrical equipment as per Australian Standards 3760 and 3012.  Participants will be trained to confidently perform testing and tagging, while meeting compliance and ensuring the safety of staff on the worksite. 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including long trousers, a long sleeved shirt and covered footwear must be worn throughout the duration of the course.
