Need to know about workplace health and safety?

This five-day course has been designed to provide elected work health and safety representatives with the skills to effectively represent their fellow employees in matters relating to occupational safety, health and welfare.

Participants will be guided through:

  • Requirements of current occupational health, safety and welfare legislation within the workplace
  • Workplace hazards and control methods
  • Conducting effective workplace health and safety inspections
  • Conducting effective investigations into workplace accidents or incidents
  • The role of work health and safety representatives from management and union perspectives
  • Mental health issues, including anxiety, depression and resilience
  • Local support services and referrals

This workshop provides a short introduction into the MYOB software.

During this workshop, participants will learn how to:

  • Enter sales and purchases into MYOB
  • Print invoices
  • Use a range of GST codes
  • Enter payments received
  • Customise invoices

The textbook, A Step by Step Approach to Administer Subsidiary Accounts and Ledgers is required. Choose to complete assessments after the workshop and/or receive a letter documenting your participation.

NR TAFE is offering a series of business workshops to prepare participants for work in a management role or to build on their existing skills in the workplace.

The Manage Meetings Skill Set enables participants to organise and manage meetings within their workplace, including:

  • Overseeing the preparation
  • Chairing the meeting
  • Providing agendas and meeting material
  • Organising minutes and reporting outcomes.

The units of competency delivered throughout these workshops contribute towards nationally recognised courses, including the Diploma of Business, Project Management, Leadership and Management and Human Resources Management. Please discuss further study options with your lecturer.

This two-day refresher course allows participants to revisit and update skills and knowledge gained during the Intro Training for Work Health and Safety Reps course. Participants will be updated on the essential information required to continue to fulfill their duties as their organisation’s elected work health and safety representative. 

Participants will be guided through:

  • Recent legislation amendments and how to apply them in the workplace
  • Conducting effective investigations into workplace accidents or incidents
  • General refresh on the requirements of an elected work health and safety representative

XERO is cloud-based accounting software that is becoming increasingly popular, with many easy-to-use features.  

This workshop provides a short, six hour introduction to XERO software, with the opportunity to study further.  

Use XERO to enter a range of transactions, including: 

  • Invoices
  • Adjustment notes
  • Payments
  • Receipts
  • Bank entries
  • Bank statement
  • Financial reports

The textbook, Conduct Business Activities Using A Computerised Accounting System is required.
