Learn the massage basics with this evening course!

This course guides participants through the basics of body massage, tailoring it to the needs of their clients to ensure the most relaxing experience.

Throughout this course, participants will gain the skills and knowledge to provide full body treatments incorporating body massage techniques, electrical currents, body scrubs and wraps.

Participants will learn to establish client priorities and gain knowledge of anatomy, physiology and skin.

Learn how to provide first aid in emergency situations.

Throughout this course, participants will learn how to:

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Apply appropriate first aid procedures
  • Communicate details of the incident
  • Evaluate the incident and their own performance

This course consists of practical components that must be completed on the floor. Please wear comfortable and appropriate clothing.

This skill set provides participants with the foundation skills of relaxation massage, focussing on the head, neck and shoulders.

Participants will learn the correct treatment sequence, and techniques to suit the treatment stages and areas of the body.

Students will be required to practice on models, with all equipment and products supplied by North Regional TAFE.

Learn how to apply make-up for daily wear and special occasions on a variety of skin tones and facial structures. Also covered in this course is the application of single use eyelashes, eyebrow shaping, contouring and highlighting techniques and tips for what to include in your make-up kit.

The Manicures, Pedicures and Tanning Skill Set provides participants with the skills to perform manicure and pedicare treatments, and apply cosmetic tanning products in a safe and hygienic manner.

Participants can choose to complete all units, or two of the three, choosing to specialise in manicure and pedicure services, or tanning.

Each year, one in five Australians experience a mental illness.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) provides participants with the skills to help those involved in a mental health crisis until it resolves or professional treatment is received.

MHFA is an evidence-based training courses authored by MHFA Australia and delivered by an accredited NRT MHFA instructor.

The course covers recognition and response to the most common and subacute mental health disorders, including:

  • Depression and anxiety
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Psychosis
  • Suicidal tendencies
  • Non-suicidal self-injury
  • Substance misuse

This course is designed for all members of the public aged 18 years and above. It is also suitable for health professionals, human resources staff, managers and others in frontline jobs.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a technique used in emergency situations to save lives.

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to perform CPR in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

Areas covered throughout this course:

  • First aid codes of practice and workplace procedures
  • ARC guidelines relevant to the provision of CPR
  • Legal, workplace and community considerations
  • Operating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) 
  • Conveying incident details to emergency service personnel
  • Debriefing and welfare

The Salon Reception Skill Set teaches participants how to communicate effectively with salon clients, be organised and manage client enquiries.

A salon receptionist is responsible for greeting customers upon their arrival, answering clients’ questions about services via phone, email or in-person, and processing transactions.
