Making Marks on Paper Skill Set

Drawing is the backbone to arts practices.

This class allows participants to build their fundamental drawing skills and learn how to capture what is seen with an artist’s eye within the studio environment.

In this course participants will learn and explore basic drawing techniques with pencil, ink, charcoal and pastel. Participants will investigate the elements and principles of design in this relaxed class.

No prior drawing experience is required, so come and delve into the world of mark making.

Encaustic Painting Skill Set

Come and explore this new painting technique using beeswax!

Encaustic is a Greek word meaning to ‘heat in’ or to ‘burn in’ (enkaustikos). During this course, participants will learn how to use heat to melt beeswax, and embed and work to the layers through the wabi-sabi approach. 

Participants will also be given the opportunity to incorporate mixed media and varying techniques to bring their artwork to life.
