Are you passionate about cultural art?

The Certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Art will help students develop the basic art-making skills underpinning visual arts and craft practices.

Students will complete oral and written coursework and gain hands-on skills through independent and collaborative projects. Throughout the course, participants will work closely with the local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community to establish a reference group and use local cultural knowledge necessary to achieve some units of competency.

After successfully completing this qualification, participants could progress into a number of positions including Aboriginal visual arts worker, community arts centre trainee, community arts workshop trainee or ceramics studio trainee.

Are you passionate about cultural art?

The Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts helps students gain the skills  to produce a range of art and craft works, and select, adapt and transfer those skills to many situations. Participants will be expected to work closely with the local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community, which will prepare them to communicate more broadly about the creative industries within the community.

This qualification prepares students for the higher level learning that supports professional art practices. Following completion, participants could work in a number of roles including Aboriginal visual arts worker, community arts centre assistant, community arts workshop assistant, ceramics studio assistant or emerging practicing artist.

If you are passionate about the arts and want to work in one of the many varied areas of arts administration -  or are already working in the field and would like to earn a nationally recognised qualification - this is the course for you!

Participants will learn about a broad range of art outlets including galleries, museums and theatres, while gaining a strong understanding of the administrative and system requirements of the business. Participants will also learn how to use office technology and computer application software.

Participants will produce work that shows proficiency with techniques in their chosen art form, while applying solutions to a range of unpredictable problems.

Students will develop broad and integrated factual, technical and theoretical knowledge with cognitive skills that allow them to analyse, compare and act on information from a range of sources.
