This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills initiative, from 1 January 2020 through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. The qualification has core units of competency that are required in many Certificate III qualifications.

The elective options are structured to allow choice from a range of units aligned at Certificate III level and in total could provide meaningful credit in a construction industry Apprenticeship.

Throughout this course, you will gain skills in:

  • Handling construction materials 
  • Using construction power tools and equipment 
  • Levelling procedures 
  • Concreting 
  • Excavation 
  • Demolition  
  • Undertake basic construction projects 
  • WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry 
  • You are looking to gain employment in the construction industry
  • You are interested in an apprenticeship in the future
  • In most cases have finished school at Year 10

This course is offered through face-to-face delivery over one year, in eight blocks of one week duration each. 

The blocks are five days a week.

Students attend for seven hours each day, meaning each block provides 35 hours of face-to-face training and assessment.

The total amount over two semesters is a total of 280 hours.
