Whether you prefer visual art, painting, textile design or pottery, we have a range of art qualifications and short courses to put you on the path towards your dream career. Our facilities are equipped with state of the art smartboards, external wet and dry areas and expansive indoor floor space to nurture the creativity of our regions’ upcoming artists.
For those destined for the spotlight, we also offer a creative environment for emerging musicians, songwriters and music managers.

Are you passionate about cultural art?
The Certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Art will help students develop the basic art-making skills underpinning visual arts and craft practices.
Students will complete oral and written coursework and gain hands-on skills through independent and collaborative projects. Throughout the course, participants will work closely with the local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community to establish a reference group and use local cultural knowledge necessary to achieve some units of competency.
After successfully completing this qualification, participants could progress into a number of positions including Aboriginal visual arts worker, community arts centre trainee, community arts workshop trainee or ceramics studio trainee.
This course is designed for students who identify as Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander.

Get creative, learn pottery!
Experiment, explore and learn a variety of techniques using clay, to form your own creative pieces.
You will imaginatively explore ceramic materials and processes to create and form your pieces by hand. Firing and glazing will also take place, where you will learn more about colours and design ideas that are relevant to your formed pieces.
This unit is appropriate for beginners, teachers, artists and hobbyists, where you can work at your own pace under the guidance of a lecturer.

The music industry has a rich history in the North West providing a tool for expression, social and emotional well-being, and cultural identity.
The Certificate II in Music Industry is an entry-level qualification, providing participants with strong foundation skills upon which to build musical and production abilities. Students will receive an introduction to the music business, gain technical skills on their instrument of specialisation and learn the basics of audio engineering, including recording.
Participants will also build their ensemble skills, working with fellow students to rehearse and perform music. Upon completion of this qualification, students will have a good understanding of the music industry and best practices.

The Certificate III in Music Industry provides students with an opportunity to enhance their musical performance and production abilities. This course can be studied face-to-face or completely online, from the comfort of your own home!
This course is suitable for participants who have mastered basic instrumental skills and are interested in building their career in the music industry. Students will develop their songwriting skills, master stagecraft and build their music business skills.
Students studying face-to-face will:

The Certificate IV in Music Industry assists students to further develop their skills and knowledge in music performance and composition. This course is suitable for participants who already possess instrumental and/or vocal skills and are interested in building their career in the music industry.
Throughout this course, participants will build industry knowledge, develop a career plan and arrange marketing and public relations material to assist in building a positive reputation in the industry.

The music industry is vibrant and constantly growing, with an ever-increasing strength of WA acts being heard at a national and international level.
The Diploma of Music Industry provides participants with the skills to break into the wider music industry. Students will gain the knowledge and support to extend their career outside of their hometown and gain state or national exposure. Participants will extend their industry knowledge, negotiate contracts, manage copyright arrangements, and build on their performance techniques and repertoire.

Painting Skill Set

Learn a variety of painting skills and techniques and create your own stretched canvas artwork.
Our weekly painting course is a fun, engaging and relaxing environment where you will meet and work with like-minded people. The course is suitable for beginners, hobbyists and artists, where you can work at your own pace under the guidance of an art lecturer.
Throughout the 6 weeks, you will learn the basics of colour theory and explore a variety of painting techniques and skills in order to create your own artworks ready to hang. Demos will also be shown on canvas stretching and ways to present your work. We will also look at many other types of artworks by various artists for inspiration and use a variety of painting mediums such as acrylic, watercolour, pastels, ink and oils. After the exploration of paints, colour and techniques you are free to work toward a final painting/s where you can choose your preferred mediums and techniques.
There is also the opportunity to work in the art studio aside from set class days, however you will need to organise this with your lecturer to work out a suitable time to come in.
