Unique Student Identifier

Creating a USI

Keep your training records secure

All students enrolling in a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course require a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Your USI account contains your nationally recognised training records and results, which you can access anywhere in Australia. Create your USI online at www.usi.gov.au(opens in a new tab) and provide the number to NR TAFE upon enrolment.

It’s easy to apply online, just follow these six simple steps…

Step 1: Have at least one form of ID ready, such as your Driver's Licence, Medicare Card, Australian Passport, Visa (with non-Australian Passport), Birth Certificate (Australian), Certificate of Registration by Descent, Citizenship Certificate or Immigration Card.

Step 2: Have your personal contact details ready including your address, email and/or phone number.

Step 3: Visit www.usi.gov.au(opens in a new tab) and click on 'Create a USI'.

Step 4: Agree to the terms and conditions and follow the steps.

Step 5: Write your unique number down and keep it somewhere handy and safe.

Step 6: Bring this number with you when you re-enrol.
