Derby Campus
North Regional TAFE operates within two main locations in Derby - the main campus located on Clarendon Street and a second modern centre on Loch Street with art and trades facilities, with parking available on campus.
The campuses service the geographical boundaries of the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley; encompassing an area of approximately 120,000 square kilometres that includes the towns of Derby and Fitzroy Crossing, the Fitzroy Valley communities and the Gibb River Road Communities.
Providing a quality education in a regional environment, this campus offers many of the courses via flexible delivery, traineeships and recognition of prior learning to meet the needs of students, local industry and the community.

The Certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Art will help students develop the basic art-making skills underpinning visual arts and craft practices.
Students will complete oral and written coursework and gain hands-on skills through independent and collaborative projects. Throughout the course, participants will work closely with the local Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community to establish a reference group and use local cultural knowledge necessary to achieve some units of competency.
After successfully completing this qualification, participants could progress into a number of positions including Aboriginal visual arts worker, community arts centre trainee, community arts workshop trainee or ceramics studio trainee.

The Forklift Skill Set is a three-day course comprised of theory and practical activities where you will learn how to operate a forklift safely and efficiently in accordance with all relevant legislative requirements.
Undertaking theory and practical activities, participants will be guided through the operation of a forklift, ensuring:
- Risk control measures are implemented
- Traffic management is carried out in accordance with workplace procedures
- Pre-start and operational checks are completed
- Loads are monitored correctly
- Shutdown procedures are carried out
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment and Notice of Assessment. NR TAFE
will submit an Application for High Risk Work Licence (Class LF) on your behalf, providing all requirements* are met.

Throughout this course, you will learn how to use discretion and judgement when providing person-centred support. Your skills will be backed by factual, technical and procedural knowledge and theories. You will learn about the aged care industry, caring for the elderly, enabling independence, understanding and supporting people with dementia, safety procedures, ethical behaviour, infection control, working with cultural diversity, and workplace health and safety. Where appropriate, electives may be packaged to provide a qualification with a specialisation. Throughout this course, you will undertake a combination of written assignments and hands-on industry tasks including fencing, tractor operations, cattle processing and mustering in teams.
