This pre-apprenticeship course is perfect if you want to give yourself a head start in learning a trade and be in a good position to get yourself an apprenticeship in mechanics.
Complete this qualification and you'll gain the skills work on the mechanical parts of motor vehicles, including the engine, transmission and suspension systems. You are employed in the automotive industry or a student or school-based trainee wishing to gain skills for employment in the automotive repair sector.
You enjoy hands on learning, classroom and training workshops.
Training is delivered over a period of 18 months There is face-to-face delivery each term consisting of 1 x 2-week blocks, 5 days per week. This training will be a mixture of classroom and workshop training and assessment.
If this is a school-based traineeship, students will attend the workplace one day per week, outside scheduled delivery blocks, as agreed between the school and the employer.

To successfully complete a Certificate II pre-apprenticeship all participants are required to complete a specified amount of hours in an industry work placement.

Successful completion of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to become an apprentice in the automotive industry, but you need to be registered with the The Apprenticeship Office and employed.
