This qualification elevates your skills in the early childhood education and care sector, with a focus on leadership and support. Throughout this course, you will learn how to support and lead children’s learning and development, maintain compliance in service operations, supervise staff and work with community members and external agencies to achieve successful outcomes. You will learn how to analyse and apply a range of specialised theoretical concepts to diverse work situations.
The early childhood education and care sector is experiencing increased demand, driven by population growth and an emphasis on the importance of early childhood development. This course provides you with an opportunity to progress your career in a growing industry.
Throughout this course, you will gain skills in:
- Supporting and leading children's learning and development
- Designing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs and practices within an approved learning framework
- Supporting the health, wellbeing, learning and development of children
- Working with community members and external agencies
- Providing leadership and support
- Leading and contributing to service delivery that meets the National Quality Standards
- Managing a variety of education and care services
- Ensuring compliance with service policies and national and/or state-based legislation
- You seek to further develop your skills and job opportunities as an early childhood educator
- You currently work in the early childhood education and care sector and seek to formalise your skills
- You have a keen interest in supporting the development and wellbeing of children aged 0 – 12 years
This course remains FEE FREE in 2024! The course fees are 100 per cent subsidised by the WA State Government for WA residents.

As there is a compulsory work placement component in this qualification, all students over 18 years of age must hold a Working with Children Check and a Police History Check from the Department of Education WA.
Students must hold either a CHC30113 or CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care Qualifications in order to enrol into the Diploma.
You must complete 280 hours of work placement in a regulated children’s education and care service as part of this course.
If you are not currently employed in an early childhood education and care setting, your lecturer will assist you in finding a suitable placement for this period.
During your work placement, you will observe, develop and put your theoretical skills into practice while shadowing a workplace supervisor.
