Do you need a working in confined spaces ticket for work?

Participants will learn safe entry into confined spaces in Resource and Infrastructure Industries in this one-day course. This course is appropriate for those working in operational roles undertaking work in confined spaces. There is a mixture of practical and theoretical activities using industry standard equipment.

This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills initiative, from 1 January 2020 through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. Study Mode On campus.

 

Students will learn to:
  • Identify areas that constitute confined spaces
  • Comply with site and equipment safety requirements
  • Comply with the  entry and exit procedures, risks and regulations
  • Types of air contaminants and toxic gases
  • Identify the limitations of breathing apparatus
  • Identify equipment types, characteristics, technical capabilities and limitations
  • Comply with site isolation and site control responsibilities and authorities
  • Locate and understand safety data sheets (SDS) information and application
  • Use confined space and industry terminology

You will need to have the following PPE at a minimum when conducting the practical assessments:

  • Hi-Vis Long sleeve shirt
  • Long Pants
  • Steel Cap Boots
  • Hard Hat
  • Safety Glasses
  • Gloves
