These infection control skill sets have been developed specifically to get you job ready to safely manage infection control in the workplace. They match up with the skills employers are looking for, to support WA businesses in key areas such as aged care, disability support, retail, hospitality, transport and logistics.Â
The skill sets contain selected units of competency from nationally accredited and recognised vocational qualifications that target specific skill areas. There are six free infection control skill sets available, each focused on a specific area of work.

COVID-19 Direct Care Skill Set

Are you looking to take part in infectious disease training during the COVID-19 pandemic?
The online COVID-19 Direct Care Skill Set is suitable for new and existing workers who need to upskill or undertake infectious disease training due to risks associated with their role.Â
This course is suitable for:
- aged care workers
- disability support workers
- Assistant in Nursing (AIN)
- home and community care workers
- at home carers
Please note:
- To complete this course, it is not a prerequisite that you must be currently employed in Industry. This COVID-19 Skill Set stands alone and can be completed separately if desired. However, students may be enrolled in either the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support or the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support and have a current work placement. Alternatively, students who are not enrolled in either qualification may be employed in an aged care or home and community care facility. Â
- There is practical assessment component to be completed in your workplace or placement, but this can be simulated if needed at NR TAFE – please talk with your local lecturer.
- This skill set is self-paced, online  and completely flexible and all theory components are available online/can be completed in your own time outside of work hours.
- Face-to-face delivery will be required for one of the three units in this skill set. The remaining two units are to be completed by the student online. Please contact us to discuss alternative arrangements.
Students can start at any time within the course dates listed.
Entry into Care Roles Skill Set

Learn how to provide entry level support and basic client care for a range of roles within the aged care and disability support sectors!
This skill set is for individuals who use introductory care practices to support fully qualified carers within an aged care or disability support environment. The support provided in client care will be predominantly non-direct.Â
The Infection control Skill Set has been primarily designed for delivery online. Students are expected to start and complete the online theory component of the course using the Blackboard learning platform within one week from the start date, and the practical activities associated with the training are expected be completed within 3 weeks after the completion of the online component. The practical components required can be achieved through observation of your skills in a workplace setting, or through a video submission, or alternatively through a demonstration of your skills at one of our nominated campuses.
Nominated campuses include: Broome, Karratha, Kununurra and Pundulmurra (South Hedland).
Once you are enrolled your lecturer will be in contact with you prior to starting the scheduled course.
