Improve your reading, writing and mathematics skills.
This course assists you in developing initial skills in reading, writing and mathematics for personal growth, community participation and to pathway into employment and further education. Training is built around a flexible strength-based framework, allowing you to pursue your interests and incorporate your own life experiences into your learning.
Using a combination of structured teaching and unstructured learning activities, you will build your skills in basic literacy and numeracy, documenting a personal study plan, and planning, carrying out and evaluating project goals to grow your confidence and employability skills.
This course is available at other campus locations upon request.
Throughout this course, you will gain skills in:
- Clarifying project goals with an appropriate support person
- Planning, carrying out and evaluating projects
- Developing and documenting a personal study plan
- Gather a portfolio of evidence with support
- Reading and interpreting short, explicit and personally relevant texts
- Creating simple, personally relevant texts using digital technology
- Applying simple mathematical knowledge in familiar and everyday situations
- You left mainstream education early
- You are an adult returning to lifelong learning
- English is your second language
- You have no or limited employment experience
