This is a preparatory qualification which provides a defined and limited range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons by individuals who provide assistance with client services.

These routine and repetitive tasks are completed under direct supervision and with guidance from hairdressers who manage the client service.

The Certificate II in Salon Assistant provides you with the skills to work as a hair salon assistant in a hairdressing salon. You will learn a range of basic skills and knowledge used in hairdressing salons by individuals who provide assistance in client services. You will learn everything you need know to provide a top quality service.

Students will gain skills in the following areas:

  • Customer service
  • Drying hair
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Sales
  • Handling stock
  • Communication skills
  • OH&S practices
