Adapt and innovate in the changing business world. 

The Certificate IV in Business has been designed to prepare you for the adaptability and innovation required to succeed in a post-COVID world. In response to industry needs, this course focuses on transferrable skills in reading, writing and communication, as well as operating efficiently in a digital environment. 

This course covers digital communication and report-writing, operational planning and problem-solving, business networking, self-management, leadership and workplace health and safety, depending on the elective units you select.

If you are completing this course as part of a traineeship, you will put your skills into practice in the workplace while learning. Those without a workplace will learn within a simulated virtual online environment. 

As a general student, you will undertake three hours of tutorial sessions per week, along with weekly prescribed study totaling 480 hours. 

As a trainee, you will undertake 70 hours of tutorial sessions, 8 hours of site visits, 200 hours of on-the-job training under an allocated mentor, and 200 hours of prescribed study. 

Depending on the elective units you select, you will gain skills in: 

  • Digital communication and report writing 
  • Operational planning and problem-solving 
  • Business networking 
  • Self-management and leadership
  • Workplace health and safety 
  • You are already working in a business environment and wish to take on a higher level of responsibility 

  • You seek work in an administrative, project or customer service level role that required well-developed business and communication skills 

  • You have been on extended leave from the workplace 

  • You have completed a Certificate II in Business or a Certificate II in Workplace Skills qualification and are looking to further your skills and knowledge 

Half-price

This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where jobs are today, and into the future. As part of the state government Lower fees, local skills initiative, from 1 January 2020 through to 31 December 2025 you'll only pay half the tuition fees (plus resource fee) capped at $1,200; or $400 if you're aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. You are expected to have a satisfactory level of literacy, language and numeracy skills, including basic business writing skills, in order to enrol in this course.
